Classic Vehicle Registration Scheme (CVRS) Information

Classic Vehicle Scheme Eligibility

The Classic Vehicle Registration Scheme  is for vehicles that are 30 plus years old, have a GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) of 3.5 tonnes or less and have modifications.

If the vehicle has been modified it must fit within the guidelines of VS1-6 (Link below) or have an engineering certificate from a VSCCS licensed person or may rely on an older ECS Certificate if that Certificate is recorded on your old NSW registration papers (bottom right hand side) and you have copies of the ECS documentation

  1. You must be a resident of NSW.
  2. The vehicle to be registered on CVS must be garaged in NSW.
  3. You must be a financial member of a club which is affiliated with one of the these approved organisations:

ANSMA does not be accept memberships or registration applications for any type of recreational vehicle. Including 4×4 (4WD), RV’s, Motorhomes etc. We are a club who’s primary interest is the preservation and restoration of Classic Street Machines.

Classic Vehicle Registration Process

To access the Classic Vehicle/60 Day Log Book Registration the first step is to obtain your “Classic Registration Scheme approval” from the ANSMA.

For New ANSMA members this is done once you complete our ANSMA New Membership Form Or Existing members adding additional vehicles to your membership and Classic Scheme click here:  Additional Vehicle Application.

No Registration paperwork will be accepted until you have received your Classic Approval  from the ANSMA which will outline the next steps and instructions to submit your Classic Registration to the ANSMA for signing and stamping.

The classic vehicle conditional registration costs payable to Service NSW will be:
$22 – Conditional registration administration fee
$29 – CTP insurance premium
$44 – Number plate fee (one-off)
$95 Total
